New Foods

What has gotten into our little girl?? The girl who I can count on one, maybe two hands, the foods she eats. She's not necessarily a picky eater...she just REALLY likes the food she eats. Tim and I would be retired right now if we had bought stock in Stouffer's Macaroni, Skippy Peanut Butter, the entire fruit industry, Smokey Sharp cheese and popcorn, not to name a few other things. And, if any of you know her, nothing "green" would ever pass through those lips of her. Maybe if it was a green M&M, but that's besides the point. Tonight she ate and kept eating green beans, you heard me right, green beans! Last night she ate black beans-never has she even tried a black bean but she was pointing at them on our plate and wanting "more". The day before that she ate fresh pears. All of these she continued to willingly eat on her own. Not just 1 of each, but whole handfuls. Personally, I think she's just getting tired of the same old thing. We'll see what she'll eat next...good for you Girlfriend!!

Spin the Wedding Ring

First off...I DO NOT like Daylight Savings Time! It messes up your sleeping schedule, mainly Avery's which then messes up mine, and if you know me, I do not like my sleep schedule disrupted ;) Also, it's bright so early in the morning. Besides the farmers, who really needs the sun out before 6:30?? I'm sorry if you are one of those people :) In the Penrod household we love to go for walks at night and spend a lot of time outdoors. Seeing how it gets dark so early that is not an available choice for us after dinner...which is now served before/around 6:00 because it actually feels like 8:00 at that time. So...after all that, we now have to entertain ourselves, ahem, Avery inside. Our new game is "Spin the Wedding Ring". What better way to use Tim's wedding ring than as a "top"! Avery sure does seem to love it and is really trying to get the hang of it. I'm sure by the time Daylight Savings Time is over she will be a pro!

Fun at the Park

We love trying out new parks so after picking up Avery from my parents this morning we took her to a new park off the Chisolm trail. Wouldn't you know it, Avery's favorite thing there was the swings. Soon I think she will like the rest of the park too!

Penrod Holiday Family Pics

The Penrod's and Jurney's met up in Nana and Papa's neighborhood to take our Family Holiday Card pic. As you can tell, our "theme" was brown shirts and jeans. I'd say we did pretty good with everyone looking at the camera and smiling for several pics. Plus, what a beautiful family...not too hard to take a pic of all of us :)

I wanted a pic of us three for our own Holiday card. I think I found 1 I like. You'll see in a few weeks.

Afterwards we went back to the Jurney's for dinner. Uncle Kev and Kristen hanging with the girls.

Avery loves Caiden...hugs!

Halloween Week '08

flashback; October 31, 2007, Avery's 1st Halloween - she is 5 1/2 months old, just starting to really sit up on her own and flashing that melt-your-heart gummy grin of hers:

fast forward to the week of Halloween 2008; Avery is 17 1/2 months old, running everywhere, and still flashing that beautiful smile of hers
What a difference a year makes! I know it sounds so cliche' but it's the first time I've ever really compared her to a time in the past. I know I will continue to have these nostalgic moments as time goes on, but it really hit me that my Baby Girl, okay, Toddler Girl, (she'll always be my Baby Girl) is growing up.

Anyways...last Wednesday we went to Kindermusik and sang and "danced" with all our Kindermusik friends. We got our picture taken with Minnie Mouse, an adorable Dancing Monkey and Robin:

On Halloween we went to cousin Riley's school picnic and ate lunch with Nana, Aunt Molly, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Riley), a fighting ninja (Caiden) and the most beautiful lady bug (Catherine).

That night was our first trick-or-treating experience. My parents came over to see our little "dancer" and of course she had to "dance" to Grandpa's ringtone (note the phone in her hand!).

pre trick-or-treating thinking-"i'm going to get so much candy tonight"

We trick-or-treated at every house on our block and about 6 more on the next. Avery had 2 pumpkins to fill up and boy did she not want to stop. By the time we were ready to go home, (I mean Mommy was ready to go home) Avery had gotten the hang of it. Run up to the door, flash a smile and grab some candy. I can only imagine what next year will be like! Happy Halloween everyone!

One more thing...Avery has finally decided that she DOES like chocolate!

Cruisin' on a Monday Afternoon

Avery and I took a walk this afternoon, but we had a friend to bring along with us...Bear and she had to ride in her stroller. We also needed our purse just in case we might need to buy something on the trail - you never know!

I had to get myself in a pic with Ms. Avery

We met someone else on the trail so I had her take our picture

The goal was that Avery was supposed to push her stroller the whole time but who are we kidding, I knew she would end up in it sooner than later. She went for a pretty long time on her own though.
