A Rare Moment

For anyone that has been around a toddler for even a brief period of time, you know that there is no stopping them, no relaxing. But, tonight while playing in the living room after dinner, Tim and I were sitting together on the couch watching Avery play and she came up to Tim's side and wanted to get up on the couch. Looking at me leaning on Tim's left side, she nestled into his other side and we sat there, our little family, for a good 2 minutes. This is something Tim and I dream of...snuggling with our daughter and enjoying the moment. Avery gave that to us tonight for the briefest of time, and it is one of those rare moments that I will continue to cherish.

Merry-Go-Round & The Cat in the Hat

On Monday, after a quick morning Dr. appt for Ms. Avery, we headed over to Stonebriar Mall to meet The Cat in The Hat at Pottery Barn Kids. The line was ridiculously long so we opted to start out at the Merry-Go-Round. Avery was just enamored with all the horses and couldn't decide which one she wanted to stay on. She finally settled on this horse, but as the Merry-Go-Round actually started moving, she decided to ride on the bench behind the horse.

We had 3 tokens and of course we used them all. I tried to get her back on a horse, but she just wasn't having it. She preferred her little bench, which was fine because it was suprisingly "fast" for a little mall Merry-Go-Round.

After our 3 tokens were used up, the line at PBKids was only a couple families deep so we headed over there. Now, we did actually go up to The Cat in The Hat and she was totally interested in it until he put his arm around us for a pic. Well, Avery just was not having any of that so as you can see from the following pics, she decided to have herself a seat and watch him from afar.

It's hard for me to disassociate the fact that Avery is still such a little girl and is still so young for some of these activities. She does so many "grown-up" things that it makes me stumble for a second when something overwhelms her, but she always seems to find another alternative to enjoy the activity. I totally love watching her through "her eyes" and remembering how to enjoy something like only children know how to do.

Happy Valentine's Day!

What a Valentine's Day Weekend! How fun that it landed on a Saturday because that meant celebration for the whole weekend instead of just one day.

Friday night, Nana and Papa had us over for some yummy homemade pizza. Now, as much of you know, I enjoy cooking very much, but I have yet to master the pizza crust. So, I've decided to put a hold on trying to conquer this recipe and if pizza is in the cards for dinner, we're either bringing it in from one of our fav pizza places or going to Nana's or Aunt Molly's or really anywhere that someone would like to make it for us.

Enjoying a smoothie before we left for Nana and Papa's

We also played with Nana and Papa's fun hats:

After dinner we all hung out in the living room while Avery opened her gift from the Jurney's...thank you so much!

But, no visit to Nana and Papa's would be complete without what I call "The Papa Swing". Avery honestly can not get enough of this and I can understand why. If I was tiny again, I would want to do it too!

In the last pic, feet having barely touched the ground, Avery already has her hand up with one finger pointing and saying "One More Time"...her favorite saying. Why, because as many times as I say One More Time, it never is just one more time, it's several more times. My fault, totally taking the blame for this one!

Our attempt at getting a pic with Avery looking at the camera. Oh well, at least everyone is in the pic!

All dressed up in our "Love" outfit for the day on Saturday.

Saturday night, Avery spent the evening with Grandma and Grandpa where she got more goodies and more sweets. M&M's accompanied her home on Sunday though one container was totally empty.

And, Tim and I decided to stay in and make ourselves a restaurant meal this year instead of going out. We've had this bottle of wine from our Wine Country trip a few years ago that we've been meaning to drink that we finally decided it was time...delicious! We cooked ourselves a yummy filet (which I have a great and easy recipe for if anyone is interested) and some lobster tails on the grill. Of course, we had one of my favorites, the chocolate covered strawberries my Dad gets me every year for V-Day and some Russell Stover's candies, another fav!

Tim and I, V-Day 2009-you know how hard it is to take a pic of yourselves with a D80?? I don't know why I just didn't grab my little Canon!

Playing with the exposures on my camera, notice wine and chocolates in the background. I could've just had that!

You Tube Friday

In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, this song is for my hubby Tim. We've celebrated this day together for the past 15 years and I love him more with each passing year. Am I cheesy or what??

I hope everyone has a great weekend and Valentine's Day!

To the one who holds my heart...cheesy again :)

New Members of the Arboretum

Tim and I have been planning on joining the Arboretum for some time now, but with it being Winter we decided we would wait until Spring when we could actually use our membership. My parents decided to join us in purchasing a Family Membership and we put it to good use yesterday. Now, it wasn't a pretty day, but it was warm and we were ready to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air. Our friend Kelli and her darling daughter Keaton joined us. It is so peaceful and pretty at the Arboretum and with the weather being overcast, we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. And, our membership allows us to have 6 people at a time with us, under 2 years old is free. So, if you ever want to go...just give us a call!

Avery checking out the "Big Blue Fish", not orange, she said they were blue of course!

Look at all the pretty pansies and violas. This area is the trial area for different plants and flowers for this region. If you can see in the back of the pic, that's the area that didn't survive over the winter. You would think they would pull them!

Rolling down the big hill where they have the concerts on Thursdays with Daddy.

See...she can throw a fit just like the rest of them :)

I bet you didn't know that we have a pirate in the family!

Avery did not want to ride in her stroller, she just wanted to push it and push she did. All around the park except for a few times she walked the whole way. Needless to say, she took a great nap when we got home.

Kelli's daughter Keaton is such a cutie pie! She was cooing and "talking" and giving us the best gummy grins!

Avery and Keaton holding hands. Keaton is so strong, she loves to stand.

My cutie pie!
